The table compares the figures for people visiting five countries (namely France, the USA, Spain, China and Italy) and the revenue of international tourism of these countries in the years 2012 and 2013.
Overall, it is clear that the number of tourists making a trip to France was the highest over the period shown, while the USA earned the highest revenue of international tourism.
In 2012, France was the most popular tourist destination with 83 million visitors, while Italy attracted the lowest number of tourists, standing at 46.4 million.
In addition, the figures for people making a trip to the other countries stood at 66.7 (the USA), 57.5 (Spain) and 57.7 (China) million tourists.
From 2012 to 2013, the number of tourists visiting France, the USA, Spain and Italy rose to 84.7, 69.8, 60.7 and 47.7 million people respectively, whereas the equivalent figure for China saw a fall of 2 million visitors.
In 2012, the USA earned the highest revenue of international tourism, standing at 126.2 billion dollars, while the figure for tourist spending in Italy was at 41.2 billion dollars, which was the lowest compared to those of the other countries.
Between 2012 and 2013, the figures for tourist spending in the USA and Italy saw a growth to 139.6 and 43.9 billion dollars respectively.
